Situated in Donegal town, Abbey Electrical is the only independent wholesaler in the county, and its director, Chris McGrath, believes that being part of the IEBG will be advantageous for the business. “It’s certainly more difficult for a small independent to gain access to some of the larger suppliers, so I think joining the IEBG will open up more doors for us and allow us to access a wider variety of products.”
Membership of the IEBG also means having access to a wider network of wholesalers around the country. “That support cannot be underestimated. Being able to pick up the phone and speak to someone who’s in the same boat as you about a product or a new technology coming onto the market is invaluable.”
Abbey Electrical has been in peration for over four years in Donegal town and benefits from being situated between Letterkenny and Sligo. The branch is also located in an industrial area of the town, which keeps Abbey’s highly trained staff busy at all times. “Last year we took on two new members of staff, bringing our staff number up to six. We had a very good year in 2017 and we expect business to continue to grow this year.”
Chris worked as an electrical contractor for several years and so knows better than most the high level of service that’s expected from a wholesaler. “I’ve spent my life dealing with electrical wholesalers so I’m aware that well-trained, knowledgeable staff go a long way. We strive to go the extra mile to get our hands on whatever product the customer wants. “The benefits of becoming an IEBG member will, I think, be felt throughout 2018 and beyond. We’re proud to be part of the Group and look forward to the advantages membership will bring.”
